Erica Sharpe’s Stella Collection has won placement on the prestigious ‘Designers of Excellence  2013’ national touring collection, following stiff competition and critical judging at The Jewellery Show, International Spring Fair 2013, N.E.C. Birmingham.

Erica’s Stella Collection, inspired by alpine flowers and the meaning these tiny and beautiful natural wonders hold to mankind, is hand-crafted in Fairtrade and Fairmined 18ct gold, and set with shades of pink or blue sapphires and green garnets.

I am a kind word uttered and repeated
By the voice of Nature;
I am a star fallen from the
Blue tent upon the green carpet.

I am the lover’s gift; I am the wedding wreath;
I am the memory of a moment of happiness;
I am the last gift of the living to the dead;
I am a part of joy and a part of sorrow.

But I look up high to see only the light,
And never look down to see my shadow.
This is wisdom which man must learn.

The Houlden Group, who sponsor the Jewellery Show’s Design Quarter Gems Section, chose their top seven talented and inspiring designers to exhibit their latest collections.

An expert panel of judges, which consisted of Ashley Pugh of Brufords, Karen Bailey of Terence Lett, Mike Rice of Hugh Rice, and Judy Deuchar, Founder of the Clifton Studio, came together to choose designers with the most original, innovative and eye-catching collection.

The panel selected outstanding pieces of jewellery from the designers’ ranges.  Pieces created by Erica Sharpe, Anya K Designs, Catherine Budd, Laura Gravestock, Rachel Galley, Charmian Beaton and Arabel Lebrusan will form the Designs of Excellence travelling collection which will tour Houlden members’ retail stores throughout the UK and Ireland in 2013 beginning in March.

The calibre of the designers was incredibly high and with such exciting talent to choose from there was much deliberation and discussion.” Stuart Laing, CEO Houlden Group.
